With over 30 years of experience, here at Higgins Waste and Recycling we have all you need to safely dispose of your waste, from a range of services, to a friendly and experienced staff. We’re always happy to go the extra mile, just ask.
Here at Higgins waste, we can accept almost any waste you need to dispose of, either in our yard, by bin collection, skip hire or van collection. We understand this wide variety of services can be overwhelming and we’re here to explain your options. If you’re in any way unsure, feel free to give us a call and we’ll do our best to assist.
We offer both household and commercial bin collection services. Commercial bins vary greatly by the requirements of the individual customer, if you are interested in commercial bin collections please contact us for more details. For our household service you will be provided with a general waste bin, a recycling bin and a food waste bin. Ensuring you correctly sort your waste can save you money and ensures recycling is maximised, and environmental impacts are reduced, so it’s well worth using all three bins. For larger households we can also supply multiple bins, just ask.
If you are unsure of what can be placed in your recycling bin, we offer leaflets to advise you. For your food bin, any food waste can be placed inside, raw or cooked, you can also use compostable bags or newspaper to wrap your food waste. Your general waste bin is for everything else. You can always ask if unsure, we’re happy to help.
There are just a few waste items that cannot be placed in your household bins, such as electricals, glass, and large items that simply won’t fit, you’re welcome to visit our yard to dispose of these, or you can avail of our van collection service for large items if you’re unable to attend the yard in person.
The only waste we are unable to accept via any of our services are oils and hazardous waste, such as asbestos and poisons, if you do have these kinds of waste to dispose of, we suggest you contact your local authority who will be able to advise you of how to correctly dispose of these. If you are unsure if your waste falls into these categories, just ask.
We have several areas in our yard where you can dispose of your waste, recycling, food waste, wood, metal, electricals, glass, grass, the list is endless, in fact, we can accept almost any waste you need to dispose of, with only the few exceptions previously mentioned. We’re happy to point you in the direction of the right bin if you’re not sure, go ahead and ask any member of staff. We sort all waste in our fully licensed yard to ensure as much as possible is recycled, the remaining waste is mostly then forwarded on to SRF (Solid recovered fuel), or waste to energy plants to ensure near to zero waste ends up in landfill, making Higgins waste the responsible choice for waste disposal.
If you are disposing of a large quantity of waste at the yard, such as a full car load, or a trailer full, we would suggest you use our weighbridge. We ask that you stop to be weighed on your way in, remove your waste and head back to be weighed a second time, this way we only charge you for the weight that has been removed from your vehicle. Be sure to advise us of the kind of waste you are disposing of as various prices apply. If you are unsure how to use the weighbridge and would like to do so, just ask.
Aside from the waste disposal services at our yard, we also offer fire fuels; kindling, smokeless coal and hard wood logs, which can be collected from our wood bunker. We also sell building materials, such as blocks, sand and cement. These can be purchased in our yard in any quantity, from a small bucket or single block, to a tonne bag. They can also be delivered to you. If you are hiring a skip, we can fill this with building materials if you are also purchasing them from us. If you are purchasing a large quantity of sand or gravel, we would ask you use the weighbridge as described above, only we will charge you for the additional weight. Please advise us of the kind of material you have loaded as various prices apply.
If you are in any way unsure, just ask, we’re always happy to go the extra mile.
